Almost every smart feeder works without a subscription for live view and motion clips. What changes is bird ID: it's free on Bird Buddy and Humbirdy, included on Kiwibit's and Birdfy's lifetime-AI versions, and paid on FeatherSnap and on Birdfy's Standard and Pro models.

Questions to ask before you buy

Where are clips stored? A microSD slot keeps clips at home if a company changes its plans. Birdfy's Feeder 2 range has no microSD replay.
Does the free tier record video or only photos? FeatherSnap, for example, puts video capture in Premium.
Is there a lifetime option? Kiwibit and Birdfy sell versions with AI included, which avoids a yearly bill.
