How we test bird feeder cameras

By Mirza Irfan Baig. Testing starts November 2026. Last updated October 21, 2026.

We buy every feeder on this site ourselves and test them in the same garden, on the same rail, at the same time. Nobody pays to be included, and no brand sees a review before it goes live.

The rig

All four feeders hang from one wooden rail at the same height, filled with the same sunflower hearts, at the same distance from one Wi-Fi router. We swap their positions every week so no feeder keeps the spot the birds like best.

Our test rig Four feeder cameras hang from one rail, same height, same seed, same distance to the router. Their positions rotate every week so no feeder keeps the best spot. A B C D Same rail height, same seed, same Wi-Fi router Positions rotate every week Week 1Week 2Week 3 ABCD DABC CDAB
Positions rotate weekly, so a feeder's results don't depend on where it hangs.
